Results from the April FT cycle

This month we received 14 proposals and accepted 9, 4.5 for each of GN and GS (one proposal was split between sites).

Proposals for the next cycle are due May 31, 12:00 (NOON) HST.  Please note this change from previous semesters. Successful proposals will be active for the period July – September.  Please check the detailed 22A instrument schedules http://www.gemini.edu/observing/schedules-and-queue for July. Note that the schedule for 22B (Aug, Sept) is not yet available. However, Gemini South will be in an engineering shutdown August 1-25, and GMOS-S will be removed from the telescope around mid-July ahead of the shutdown. We expect GMOS-S and F2 to be available after the shutdown. Furthermore, F2 is offered in MOS mode this cycle. Please see the CfP for more information. We plan to offer F2 MOS every other FT cycle. For Gemini North, we expect GNIRS to be available by the end of July. GNIRS, GMOS-N, and Maroon-X are offered this cycle. The availability of other instruments is not yet known.

This is the last cycle for 22A. Please note that the US has used up most of its time at Gemini South and is also starting to approach its limit at Gemini North. Proposals from the US for either site are still accepted during this call, but the number of US proposals accepted will be limited. Similarly, Korea has used up its time for Gemini North, but a few hours from its GS time may be used for GN proposals. Please see the CfP or contact the FT team with any questions.

As a reminder, Dual anonymous review process (DARP) rules are now enforced. Proposals must use the correct FT DARP templates. Any using a different template will be rejected at the start of the cycle. Furthermore, any proposals that are not sufficiently anonymized will be sent to the directorate for review.
